Troubleshooting Your Laptop
We listed some common problems with their solutions. For any type of damage or breakage, please place an OITA Ticket.
You can also call upon your grade level Falcon Wizard. If they can’t find a solution, then they can work with Mrs. Slawiak to find a solution.

I have a new student

Procedure to acquire a new laptop:
1. Your parents need to sign a contract 2. Your student ID needs to be loaded into PowerSchool 3. Your teacher needs to send a laptop to the PC Lab for assignment & configuration with your student ID & birth date. |
My student is switching schools
|
1. Send the laptop to the PC Lab with the student’s ID and birth date.
2. The laptop will be returned electronically and placed back into FP's inventory. 3. The laptop will be reimaged awaiting the next student assignment. |
I cannot log in and I see an ADMIN message in the lower left corner
|
1. Restart the laptop and if there is no changes,
2. Bring the laptop to the lab for reimaging. You’ll need to include the student's ID & birth date |
My laptop will not turn on
|
Plug it into an electrical outlet to see if the battery needs power. If not, then place an OITA ticket to check the power supply.

I cannot connect to the WIFI
|
1. Ask your teacher for an ethernet cable.
2. Plug the ethernet cable from your laptop into the blue port. 3. Turn on your laptop and try logging in. 4. If you can connect to Google search engine using the Google Chrome browser, then you have a connection. Remove the cable to see if WIFI will start. |
My monitor is dark
|
Press FN key with the “sun” key to make the monitor brighter.

My laptop is frozen
|
To start a frozen computer, press and hold down the power button until the computer turns off. Once the computer is off, wait a few seconds, then turn the computer back on and let it start as normal.

Updates are taking too long during class
|
Before you place your laptop into the cart for the evening, restart it, and close the lid before it gets to the desktop. Software updates are being downloaded in the late evening.

How do I start a new document for my assignment
|
Open your OneDrive and click “New”.

I downloaded a file, but can’t find it
|
Check your downloads folder and then upload into your One Drive.

It takes too long to file my documents into One Drive via the Internet
|
Add One Drive to Your Task Bar. It will synch with the OneDrive in the Internet.

Follow our file management guidelines found on this website.
1. Delete all files that has nothing in them. 2. Create folder for the school year and for each subject area. 3. Name all files as: first name, DG or period, name of assignment or project. |
